SAIC currently has an opening for a Junior Environmental Scientist to work in the Energy, Environment, and Infrastructure Business Unit in our Germantown, MD office.
Job Description: Assist in performing environmental analysis of soils, geology, land use, surface and groundwater for National Environmental Policy Act projects. Assist in writing and reviewing sections of NEPA documents relative to geology, soils, land use, and water.
Education: B.S. in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or equivalent
Required Skills: 0-2 years of experience in the understanding of geology, soils, surface water, and groundwater principles. Good oral and written skills of the English language a must. Must be able to work with a multidiscipline team of engineers and scientists.
Desired Skills: Understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act, Environmental Laws and Permitting such as the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permitting, etc. Familiarity with GIS and groundwater flow models such as MODFLOW.
