Job Description 


The Operations, Intelligence, and Security Business Unit currently has an opening for a Research Scientist in Northern, VA.



POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:



Research Scientist (MCIA-based)

»  PhD in a Social Science discipline.

»  8+ years of related experience.

»  In-depth experience in academia-based research.

»  Knowledge in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.

»  Ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

»  Be able to effectively, clearly, and concisely communicate (verbally and in writing) with a variety of people in government, industry, and academia.



Additional Personnel Requirements:

The following requirements apply for all contractor personnel positions related to this effort:

»  Ability to assist in identifying research goals and selecting appropriate research methods.

»  Expertise in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.

»  Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of planning, as they pertain to various regions, including urban, metropolitan, and rural regions.

»  Expertise in survey research design and statistical sampling methodology, as they pertain to demography.

»  Ability to prioritize and manage competing tasks, simultaneously, and in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

»  Proficient in the use of information technology and possesses. The candidate must have the appropriate level of information technology skills to operate community standard DOD Intelligence Information Systems.

»  Community standard DOD Intelligence Information Systems include, but are not limited to: Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRnet), Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRnet), Intelink, and basic Microsoft Office software applications (e.g. Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.)

»  Experience and competency with statistical analysis software and technology (e.g. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) ) is a highly desired knowledge, skill, and ability.



DESIRED SKILLS

Research Scientist (MCIA-based)

»  Experience in conducting survey research and questionnaire design.

»  Familiarity with various intelligence disciplines.

»  Experience with tools such as Intellipedia, Intellink, A-Space, M-3, NCTC Online (NOL), CIA Wire, Stoneghost.

»  Familiarity with the USEUCOM AOR.

»  Knowledge / experience in searching for open source, unclassified, and classified material.
